Frazee girls' hoops improves to 4-1

The Frazee Lady Hornet girls' basketball team improved to 4-1 on the season with a strong 46-38 win over visiting Breckenridge last Thursday.

Senior guard Alexis Tappe led the way with 18 points, while guard Ashley Bachmann added 11 points, nine coming off of three pointers.

The Hornets used a 24-16 second half to secure the win, after the game was tied 22-22 at halftime.

Stingy defense and effective rebounding held the Cowgirls to just their 16 points in the second half, as the Lady Hornets went 10-15 from the free throw line to seal the deal.

Frazee will play in Henning (5-1) Friday, for a 7:30 p.m. start.

Frazee boys stymie Lake Park-Audubon

Several Hornet seniors stepped up for boys' basketball team, as Frazee topped Lake Park-Audubon 74-64 Friday.

Tyler Olson had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Cody Nordquist had a great game with a career-high in points, finishing with 12. He also had 8 rebounds, six assists, seven steals and a block.

Sophomore Matt Tangen led the Hornets in scoring with 16 points and he also had six rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Frazee (1-4) lost to No. 6 ranked Pelican Rapids 89-69 Tuesday and will host Walker/Hackensack-Akeley (5-0) Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. start.
