Several of the Detroit Lakes boys' basketball players are starting to find their scoring stroke, as the Lakers shot 55 percent from the field in their first win of the season Friday.

Using a well-spread out scoring attack, which saw 10 Lakers find the scoring column, DL routed Mid-State Conference opponent Pequot Lakes (3-3) 73-46 inside Ralph Anderson Gym.

The win, combined with Tuesday's victory in Thief River Falls, pulls the Lakers back to .500 at 2-2.

"The guys did a nice job sharing the basketball," said DL head coach Robb Flint. "Once we started playing pressure defense and started to rebound, we were able to score."

Sophomore guard Ryan Cihak came off the bench to lead the Lakers in scoring with a career-high 18 points, while junior guard Jackson Lyngaas sparked the team in the first half with a trio of three-pointers to finish with 11 points.

The Lakers needed a little wake-up call, though, as the Patriots started the game by owning the boards and building a 10-point lead early.

But in a four-minute span, Lyngaas' three's and another one provided by Cihak flipped a deficit into a 36-26 halftime lead.

"Ryan (Cihak) came off the bench and provided a good spark, as well as playing good defense, since many of his points came off of steals," Flint said. Senior guard and leading scorer Kirk McLeod added 10 points, while 10 out of the 11 players scored in the victory.
