DL Boys Basketball - DL comes up short vs. Alexandria Cards

Alexandria senior center Logan Doyle scored 21 points, as the Cardinals swooped past the visiting Detroit Lakes boys' basketball team 58-52 Thursday.

The Lakers countered with senior guards Kirk McLeod and Derek Long, who notched 14 and 19 points, respectively, but 26 turnovers by DL was too much to overcome.

DL shot 39 percent from the field, while going 13-20 from the free throw line.

The game was close, as Doyle scored all but two of his points in the second half. He also went 9-10 from the free throw line.

Long drained four three-pointers, three coming in the second half alone, while guard Christian Hedstrom dumped in all of his seven points in the second half.

The Lakers (2-3) will be back in action for the Dassel-Cokato Holiday Tournament, starting Thursday and running through Friday.

They will open against St. Francis (6-0) Thursday.
