It's going to be a close struggle between the Detroit Lakes and Perham gymnastics team all season long and Friday's meet inside the Minnesota Flyers Gymnastics facility is just a microcosm of what is to come.

For the second time this season, the Lakers topped the Yellowjackets by under two points, this time prevailing 139.625 to 139.125.

Perham also holds one win on the Lakers this season, as well, by the smallest of margins.

Seventh grader Natalie Nelmark had a great meet by winning two events, including the beam and vault with scores of 8.9 and 9.25, respectively.

Eighth grader Molly Lyngaas won bars with a 9.55, while posting a first-place all-around mark of 36.175, while Nelmark was second at 35.95.

The vault was key for the Lakers, with the top four spots going to DL. Lyngaas was second with an 8.75, while Emma Disse was third at 8.625 and Hannah Okeson fourth with an 8.525.

The Lakers will be back in action after the holiday break
