Frazee girls keep on winning and improve to 11-2 on the season

The Frazee Lady Hornet basketball team played their fourth game in six days and was able to defeat Section opponent Park Rapids 72-51 on Parents Night Thursday in Frazee.

Frazee (11-2 overall) outscored Park Rapids (2-8 overall) 34-23 in the first half and 38-28 in the second half to pick up the commanding win.

Alexis Tappe led the Lady Hornets with her fourth straight game scoring 26 or more points.

Tappe had team highs with 29 points, 20 rebounds, eight assists, four steals and four blocked shots.

Ashley Bachmann had another solid night, knocking down five 3-pointers en route to 17 points.

Frazee shot 43.1 percent from the field (28-for-65) which included 8-for-22 effort from the three-point line. The Panthers shot 29 percent (20-for-69).

The Lady Hornets pulled down a season high 50 rebounds with 17 coming on the offensive glass.

"We didn't have our best game tonight, but we had a great night rebounding and made enough plays offensively to maintain a comfortable lead," head coach Dave Conzemius said. "Park Rapids has improved since early in the year and they really battled until the end."

Frazee is back in action Monday when they host Perham.

Strong start leads Frazee girls past Barnesville

The Frazee Lady Hornet basketball team used a solid first 12 minutes of play Tuesday night to help them defeat the Barnesville Trojans 66-55 in Heart O'Lakes Conference action in Frazee.

The Lady Hornets came out shooting the ball well as they raced to a 29-13 lead with six minutes to go in the first half.

From there the Trojans (8-3 overall, 1-3 HOL) used several small runs to try and get back into the game but were never able to get closer than seven points the rest of the game.

Alexis Tappe was the leader for Frazee, scoring 28 points to go with eight rebounds, seven assists and seven steals.

Ashley Bachmann hit five of nine three pointers to score 17 points and Kennady Barlund added 10 points and six rebounds.

Alissa Bentley led Barnesville with 20 points.

"Barnesville has a nice team and we are very happy to pick up another quality win," Conzemius said.

"We seemed to tire a little in the second half with playing our third game in four days, but Ashley was able to hit some big three pointers to help us maintain our lead."
