Laker matmen steamroll through East Grand Forks

The Detroit Lakes wrestling team ran rampant through the East Grand Forks quadrangular Tuesday, as they swept through Roseau, Walker/Hackensack-Akeley and the Green Wave.

The closest any team came to the Lakers was the opening dual against Roseau, where the Lakers toppled the Rams 51-27.

From there, it was all DL as they crushed the host team 69-6 and Walker/Hackensack-Akeley 71-11, to raise the Lakers' dual record to 14-2.

Bonus points were the name of the game for the Lakers, who had a three-match pin total of 24, including five versus Roseau, 10 against EGF and nine against Walker/H-A.

Those DL wrestlers who had three pins on the evening included Tyler Bellefeuille (103 pounds), Payton Jackson (113) and Jarett Nosal (160), while Zach Baker (138), James Huwe (heavyweight) and Parker Jackson (145) each went 2-0 with a pair of falls.

The Lakers will look to continue their hot streak at home against Section 8-2A foe Perham Friday, starting at 6 p.m.
