Frazee Girls B-Ball - Lady Hornets score big HOL win

The Frazee Lady Hornet basketball team started fast and hit their free throws down the stretch to help them beat Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton 63-58 Thursday night in Heart O'Lakes Conference action.

Frazee (13-3 overall, 4-2 HOL) came out focused as they raced to a quick 11-0 lead just three minutes into the game.

The Lady Hornets forced D-G-F (10-4 overall, 5-1 HOL) to the perimeter as Frazee contained the much bigger Rebels.

The result saw Frazee push the lead to as much as 17 points at 27-10. Ashley Bachmann was a big reason for the nice start as the senior was 5-for-5 on three pointers in the first half.

D-G-F closed the gap with 12-3 run to end the half.

The Rebels had another nice run to start the second half that saw them take their only lead of the game at 34-32.

The Lady Hornets however, responded with a basket by Josi Tappe to tie the game back, and following two free throws they regained a lead they would never give up.

D-G-F threatened down the stretch to overtake Frazee once again, but the Lady Hornets hit 19-of-27 free throws in the second half including 13-for-17 in the last four minutes of the game.

"This was an outstanding win for the girls on the road at a very difficult place to play," head coach Dave Conzemius said. "Ashley really got us going in the first half and when she shoots the ball well, that really opens things up for us."

Bachmann led Frazee with a game-high 20 points, which included a 6-for-7 effort on three pointers.

Alexis Tappe had 14 points and six rebounds, Taylor Tappe had a great floor game with 13 points, six rebounds and four assists and Kennady Barlund helped the cause with a season-high 11 rebounds.

Mandy Mercil led D-G-F with 18 points and Sierra Senske added 12.

"I am so proud of the composure that we showed all game long," Conzemius added. "I knew that D-G-F would make a run at us because they are such a good team, but we had a great team effort and we responded really well at everything they threw at us."
