An offensive explosion could be heard Saturday night inside Ralph Anderson Gym, as the Detroit Lakes boys' basketball team soared to a big victory over visiting Little Falls, 92-81.

The visitors were in a giving mood, too, as the Lakers took full advantage of 52 trips to the free throw line, sinking 42, while shooting a whopping 51 percent from the field.

Sophomore Ryan Cihak was nearly perfect from the floor, going 10-10 from the charity stripe, while sinking 3-3 from two-point range and 3-6 from beyond the three-point arc for a season-high 25 points.

But Cihak wasn't the only Laker locked in.

Senior guard and leading scorer Derek Long was 8-10 in free throws, while finishing with 21 points overall, and sophomore guard Christian Hedstrom was 11-12 from the free throw line to finish with 15 points.

Rounding out the Lakers' double-digit scorers was senior guard Kirk McLeod with 14 points.

The Lakers (7-8) shot 65 percent from two-point range, while sinking eight three-pointers, to go along with their 42 free throws.

The win was a big Section 8-3A victory, with Little Falls dropping to 10-5 on the season.

DL wasn't as sharp Thursday in East Grand Forks, as the Green Wave prevailed 80-66.

Long led the way with 20 points, followed by McLeod's 19 and Cihak's 18, which was keyed by his five three-pointers.

The Lakers will travel to Wadena-Deer Creek (4-11) for a Mid-State Conference tilt, while hosting Perham (12-4) Saturday, starting at 7:45 p.m.
