DL girls in Hamline Elite Meet

Several Detroit Lakes girls’ track and field athletes placed in the Hamline Elite Meet Friday, after earning spots based on their performances earlier in the season.

Lindsey Heinecke placed third in the 400-meter dash with a sub-minute mark of 59.29, while Shay Nielsen was 10th in shot put with a throw of 38-10.

The 4x200 relay team of Addie Kay Johnson, Simona Woodard, Kyley Foster and Heinecke was seventh with a mark of 1:48.67.

The 4x400 team of Johnson, Sarah Halbakken, Foster and Heinecke also finished seventh with a time of 4:08.49.

“It was a great night for track and field and the girls had a great experience competing against the best track and field athletes in Minnesota,” said DL head girls’ coach Mike Labine.

The Lakers also were able to compete outside for the first time Thursday in Fergus Falls. No times or places were recorded.

The Craig Fredrickson Meet will be held at Mollberg Field at the DLHS Thursday, starting at 3 p.m.
