Frazee’s Italian foreign exchange student, Gabriele Grassi is starting to make a name for himself as a top Hornet hurdler, after winning the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.92 Thursday at the Craig Fredrickson Invite in Detroit Lakes.

Grassi’s time was .68 better than Moorhead’s Adam Hanson, while Grassi was fourth in the 100-meter dash with a 12.08 time.

He also was second in the triple jump with a 39-02 to DL’s Sam Champa, who finished with a 39-09.5.

Frazee teammate Tyler Ziegler was fifth in the 100 with a mark of 12.13.

For the Hornet girls, Maddie Rue was fifth in the 100 hurdles with an 18.58, while Samantha Barker was ninth in long jump with a 14-02.

“I was very pleased with our boys, as we went up against some very good competition in less than ideal conditions and they responded well,” said Frazee head boys’ coach Brian Tangen.

The Hornet teams will be in the Section 8 True Team meet in Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Tuesday.
