LP-A track teams open season

The Lake Park-Audubon boys’ and girls’ track teams started out the season with the Pine to Prairie indoor meet at Concordia College April 4 and had their first outdoor meet in Barnesville April 30.

At Concordia College, Breann Hogie placed second in the 800-meter run and high jump, helped her 4x800 team place third and 4x400, which placed fourth.

Teammate Rebecca Schermer placed fourth in the 800 and 4x400 relay, fifth in the high jump, and a third place 4x800 relay.

The first outdoor meet was in Barnesville for the Hawley Booster meet, because Hawley’s track still had snow.

“Our athletes were excited to participate after almost a month of practicing,” said LP-A coach Lori Wixo.

Tory Haglund had a great day, placing third in the 100 dash and tied the school record (11.4 Tim Larson, 2004).

Haglund also took first in the 400 dash and third in the 200 dash.

The 4x800 relay placed second (Lange, Walker Charboneau, Jacob Huesman, Isaiah Pearson), 4x400m relay placed fourth (Paul Jenson, Huesman, Tyler and Walker Charboneau).

The girls results are as follows:  Bailee Bartunek took sixth in the 200 dash with a time of 29.47; Rebecca Schermer took first, and a personal best, in the high jump with a jump of 5-0 and 6th in the 800 run with a time of 2:37.93.

Hogie placed third in the high jump, 4-10 and 800 run with a 2:34.65 (PB this year).

Hogie, Bartunek, and Schermer ran a leg in the 4x200 and 4x400 relays; which each placed third. Other members of the relay teams were Brittany Rislund and Huesman.
