Officers respond to shooting in Audubon

Bandits swipe two from Post 15

The Thief River Falls Bandits swept a home doubleheader from Detroit Lakes Post 15 in Northern Lakes Conference American Legion baseball Tuesday night.

The Bandits held the DL offense in check in both games winning by scores of 6-1 and 2-1.

Grant Hartman pitched a complete game allowing only five DL hits in the 6-1 opener.

Trevor Schnathorst, Jayden Heisler, Dylan Maneval, Blake Itzen and Hank Komrosky all had one hit for DL. Schnathorst had the lone extra base hit with a double and scored the DL run unearned in the top of the fourth on a ball hit by Maneval.

The Bandits opened up a 3-0 lead with two runs in the first inning and one in the second. TRF added one insurance run in the fifth and two in the sixth to seal the victory.

DL’s Douglas McArthur and Keaden Kempert battled in a pitcher’s duel in the nightcap.

The Bandits scored once in the second and the eventual game-winning run in the third to take a 2-0 lead.

An Itzen double to left field scored Schnathorst for the only tally by DL in the fourth inning.

McArthur fanned four and walked two in six innings for DL, allowing eight hits.

Kempert’s complete game included four hits allowed, six strikeouts and no walks.

Itzen had two of DL’s four hits. Jayden Heisler and Schnathorst were both 1-3 at the plate.

Eight of nine TRF batters had one hit each.

Thief River Falls improves to 3-11 in conference play. DL falls to 0-10 heading into a home doubleheader with East Grand Forks Friday, July 20 with games scheduled for 5 and 7 p.m. DL wraps up the regular season Monday, July 23 with two night games at Alexandria (5-3).
