DL 13U wins one at first state appearance

The Detroit Lakes 13U Babe Ruth baseball team picked up the program’s first victory at the state level in three games played  would lose their opening game of their first ever State appearance at the 13-year-old Non-Advancing State Babe Ruth tournament.

DL opened the double-elimination tournament with a 10-2 loss to Waite Park.

In the elimination bracket, the Lakers bounced with a 3-1 victory over Wadena-Deer Creek in Wadena. Jacob Thomas provided an impressive pitching performance allowing W-DC only two hits.

Albany eliminated DL by a score of 3-1 in the next round.

DL pitcher Dallas Brandt and the defense played well in game three, but the bats were silent as the season came to a close.

Little Falls emerged from the bottom bracket and defeated Paynesville twice to capture the state championship.
