Midway, NYM top seeds of Region 14C
The Midway Snurdbirds and New York Mills Millers received the top seeds for the Region 14C amateur baseball tournament.
Midway, the Lake and Pine League champions with a 12-2 record, opens the region tournament by facing the winner of the loser-out play-in game between Perham (the No. 4 seed in the Hi-10 League with a 5-7 record) and Sebeka (the No. 5 seed in the Lake and Pine with a 6-8 record) Saturday, Aug. 4 at 1 p.m. at Perham.
Perham and Sebeka square off Friday, Aug. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Krueger Field in Perham.
In the other top half of the bracket, Bluffton (the No. 2 seed in the Hi-10 with a 7-5 record) plays Nimrod (the No. 3 seed in the Lake and Pine League with a 10-4 record) Saturday at 4 p.m. in Perham.
In opening-round games at Deer Creek Saturday, Aug. 4, Park Rapids (the No. 2 seed in the Lake and Pine with an 11-3 record) plays Deer Creek (the No. 3 seed in the Hi-10 with a 6-6 record) at 1 p.m.
New York Mills (the No. 1 seed in the Hi-10 with a 9-3 record plays Wolf Lake) (the No. 4 seed in the Lake and Pine with an 8-6 record) at 4 p.m.
The winners play Saturday night at 7:30 and Sunday night at 5 p.m. while the losers begin elimination games Sunday at 11 a.m. The double-elimination tournament concludes Aug. 11 at Perham.
