Sixth grade girls qualify for Pacesetter state hoops

The Detroit Lakes sixth-grade girls basketball team qualified for the Pacesetter Minnesota Youth Basketball State Championships.

The sixth-grade girls state tournament will be held June 17 in Maple Grove.

The teams are:Plainview-Elgin-Millvillle, Sleepy Eye, Cloquet, Eden Valley-Watkins, Perham, Detroit Lakes, Mountain Iron-Buhl, and Cass Lake-Bena.

All teams play three games in one day in an eight-team format.

The top two teams from the state tournament advance to the newly renovated Target Center in Minneapolis, where they play in the Great Five-State Championships against the top teams from North Dakota, Iowa, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
