Flyers take home gold from the 'Rumble in the Jungle'

The Minnesota Flyers Levels 5-7 USAG team traveled to Sioux Falls, S.D. to compete in the Rumble in the Jungle hosted by Power and Grace Gymnastics Jan. 17.

The Level 7 came home with first place and the Level 6 came in second in the team competition.

"There also was great improvement in the Level 5 team," said MFG coach Sith Hansana.

In the Level 5 competition, the team had two new USAG competitors on the MFG squad.  

"Cora and Katrina Okeson did great for their first ever gymnastics meet," Hansana said. "Katrina placed third on the vault in her age group, while younger sister Cora placed first in her age division also in the vault," Hansana said.

In the Level 6 competition, MFG had two first place finishers.  

Morgan Eiter scored an impressive 9.275 to take first on the beam.  Johanna Jernberg placed first on the floor exercise with a 8.90.

The Level 7's looked impressive for the second meet of the season with a first-place team.  

There were some great performance by Maddie Rue, who place first on the vault, floor, and all around.   Thia Olds had a great uneven bars performance with a score of 9.275 for first place.
