St. Kate’s second place at Carleton
The St. Catherine University golf team could not have asked for a better ending to the 2018 spring season. After weeks of uncooperative weather, schedule changes, cancelled meet and whirlwind travels, the Wildcats finally competed in a meet in Minnesota and put together their best performance of the spring season.
Thanks to four top-20 finishes, St. Kate's finished second as a team at the Carleton Spring Invite in Northfield, Minnesota, finishing the event with a two-day score of 649.
The Wildcats had four of its five student-athletes competing finish in the top-20, including top two golfers Sydney Busker (Detroit Lakes, Minn. / Detroit Lakes) and Kaitlyn Alvarez (Eau Claire, Wis. / North). As per usual this spring, the two went one and two in the standings for St. Kate's, with Busker finishing in 10th place with a two-day score of 159 and Alvarez just one stroke behind her in 11th with a two-day score of 160.
The Wildcats finished the tournament in second place with a two-day score of 649. Host Carleton College won the tournament with a score of 615 and conference rival St. Thomas finished in third after shooting 659 Saturday and Sunday.
