Softball: Lady Hornets play to semi’s

One week after the Lady Hornets had defeated the #1 seeded Eagles the Eagles returned the favor as they defeated Frazee by the score of 8-2.  NYM’s then went on to defeat Parkers Prairie and will advance to the State Tournament.

The Eagles started out fast as they scored four times in the first inning. 

Their first four batters all reached base and scored which gave the Eagles a big boost in the game. 

The Lady Hornets came up in their half of the first and had their first three batters get on as well; but ended up losing two of them by defensive plays made by the Eagles.

After this inning the Eagles built on their lead as they scored one more in the second and three more in the fourth.  Frazee picked up single runs in the fourth and seventh inning to leave the score at 8-2.

For the game, NYM’s scored its eight runs on seven hits, four walks and four errors. 

Frazee on the other hand, scored two runs on four hits, one walk and three Mills’ errors. 

Picking up hits for the Hornets were Josi Tappe and Courtney Gildersleeve, with Josi Tappe having three of them. 

Handling the pitching chores for the Lady Hornets were Jo Shipman and Desiree Bauer.

The Eagles moved on to defeat Parkers Prairier twice in the championship round, winning by the scores of 10-2 and 8-2.
