Cross Country: Lundstrom takes 27th in state meet

A goal of landing in the top 25 was nearly accomplished for Detroit Lakes junior Matthew Lundstrom, who took 27th overall in the Class 2A state boys’ cross country meet Saturday at St. Olaf College in Northfield.

Lundstrom ran for a 16:13.0 and finished just 58.2 seconds behind first-place finisher Richfield senior Ali Obsa, who recorded a 15:15.2.

Lundstrom finished fifth in the Section 8-2A meet to qualify for the state meet, which was the first DL qualifier since Shane Wyborney in 2005.

Wayzata junior Connor Olson was second overall with a 15:17.4, while Hutchinson senior Isaiah Barlow was third at 15:32.7.

Wayzata won the team title by scoring 53 points, followed by Edina with 66 and Stillwater with 99.
