Another very close meet went the way of the Perham gymnastics team, as it nipped Detroit Lakes 144.25 to 143.575 Saturday.

The meet, which was held in Perham, was just another chapter in one of the state’s best rivalries, as both teams had good performances.

The Lakers won two events, with Molly Lyngaas taking bars with a 9.45, while Alexis Yliniemi won vault with a 9.575.

But the Yellowjackets captured second through fourth on bars, while winning the floor and beam.

Lyngaas did win all-around honors with a combined score of 37.25.

DL’s vaulting made up some ground, with Ally Berg taking second behind Yliniemi with a 9.45, while Lyngaas was fourth with a mark of 9.3.

Perham’s Jordan Martinson was second all-around, while teammate Adrienne Meyer was third with a 35.5.

The Lakers will have the rest of the week off and resume their 2014 schedule Friday, Jan. 3, in Fergus Falls.
