The Detroit Lakes girls’ hockey team made quick work of visiting and Section 6-1A opponent Morris/Benson Tuesday inside Kent Freeman Arena with a 13-0 win to improve the Lakers to 4-5-2 on the season.

After a longer layoff than expected, the Lakers shook off any lingering cobwebs early by pelting the M/B net for five goals in the first period.

The scoring barrage continued into the second with six more tallies, as DL goalie Veronica Badurek posted the shutout with 10 saves.

The Lakers had plenty of opportunities with 35 shots on net, with forward Hailey Sonstegard scoring four goals and Randa Larsen finding paydirt three times.

Other DL goal scorers included Samantha Benson and Emily Seebold each with two, while Chandra Johnson and Hannah Rhodes scored once.

Savanna Nolan led the way in assists with four, followed by Haileigh Wenger, who had three.

The Lakers will travel to Wadena-Deer Creek Thursday and will be in Fergus Falls Saturday.
