Basketball: DL boys topple Nuggets

There was going to be a four-game winning snapped Thursday night, as both the Detroit Lakes and Hawley boys’ basketball teams owned one.

Fortunately for the Lakers, they extended theirs to five games with a 67-58 win and now have won their last eight of 10 games to improve to 17-6 on the season.

The Lakers knocked down nine three pointers, all from two players.

Junior guard Ryan Cihak was on target for five three’s to key his game-high 25 points, while Christian Hedstrom had four treys and was 6-6 at the free throw line for 18 points.

Post Trey Lyngaas added nine points.

The Lakers will host Moorhead (10-10) in DL’s regular season home finale Tuesday and will close out it out on the road in Alexandria (11-8).
