Four DL JV golf teams compete at home invite

The Laker girls team shot a 387 to defeat Bemidji and Moorhead at the Detroit Lakes junior varsity golf invitational at Lakeview Golf Course Tuesday.

Evan Westrum (94) and Kaitlyn Peterson (96) led the DL girls with a runner-up and third place overall finish, respectively. Westrum finished one stroke behind medalist Kylen Fensen of Bemidji.

McKenna Mallow (98) and Shannara Wheeler (99) rounded out the scoring foursome.

DL’s 387 was seven strokes better than Bemidji’s 394. Moorhead shot 439 for third place.

Jackson Carlblom placed fourth shooting a 75 (+11) to finish in fourth place overall to lead all Laker boys golfers.

The Lakers had three boys teams participating. Carlblom led the DL Red team to a seventh place finish in the 11-team field with a team score of 327, along with teammates Will Stowman (82), Tyler Burnside (85) and Jake Green (85).

The foursome of Caleb Fagerlie (77), Ryan Johnson (79), Josh Noll (82), and Ryan Wheeler (83) had the home teams’ best finish in fourth place with a score of 321.

Detroit Lakes Black placed 11th: Ethan Anderson (80), Ethan Endersbe (89), Austin Cassavant (100), Kyle Miller (106).

Fargo Davies captured the team championship with a team score of 292 finishing a dozen strokes ahead of Grand Forks Red River Red (304).

Medalist Ty Satter led Davies with a 69 (+5), along with teammate and runner-up Bryce Bye with a 71 (+7).
