DNR hires new DL area fisheries supervisor

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced that Jim Wolters has been hired as the new area fisheries supervisor in Detroit Lakes.

Wolters, a native of Faribault, Minn., holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Mankato State University (currently Minnesota State University, Mankato) and a Master of Science degree from South Dakota State University in Fisheries Science.

He as been with the DNR Division of Fish and Wildlife for 19 years; two with the aquatic plant management program and the past 17 years as the assistant fisheries manager in Fergus Falls.

"Jim brings a great deal of experience to the Detroit Lakes area fisheries supervisor position," said Henry Drewes, northwest regional fisheries manager. "Jim is a great people person and has an excellent grasp on fisheries management techniques and applications."

Wolters assumed his new role and duties in Detroit Lakes on Sept.15, replacing Dave Friedl, who took the position of DNR Clear Water Legacy regional specialist in Fergus Falls.
