ST. PAUL - It was an appropriate ending to a great high school career for Frazee senior Hannah Daggett.

In each of the last three years Daggett has competed in the Class 1A state high jump event, she has progressed and this time around wasn't any different.

Daggett took fourth overall in the high jump Friday at Hamline University in St. Paul with a height of 5-04, the same mark she had in the Section meet.

"I took fourth this year and I'm proud of myself because I finished better than last year (seventh)," Daggett said. "Now that my high school career is done, I feel it was a successful one. I just had great support from my family and had just awesome coaches, I couldn't have done it without them."

Senior Katie Guse of Waseca won the high jump championship with a height of 5-08, while the next three finishers -- including Daggett -- were at 5-04.

Daggett had several pressurized situations on her way up the state ladder.

She had to use her third and final attempt at 5-03, while missing her first approach at 4-10.

"The start was a bit rough after missing my first attempt at 4-10," Daggett said. "I just maybe wasn't focused on it. Then at 5-03, I needed my third jump to get it and that was a lot of pressure there.

"I definitely didn't want to end my career then, I just told myself I wasn't quite done, yet."

Junior Forrest Jackson competed in his first state individual event, taking 13th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.21.

Eighth grader Ellie Bachmann also made her debut in the state meet, taking 13th in the 800 run with a mark of 2:24.56.

Although Lake Park-Audubon senior Jesse Wixo didn't have much practice time in the triple jump, he still finished his high school career in the state.

Wixo marked a 40-03 in the triple jump for 13th place.
