Detroit Lakes senior Austin Baker and Frazee senior Michael Miller has committed to wrestle at Concordia College in Moorhead next season.

Baker was 31-8 during his junior season and a Class AA 152-pound state entrant. He is projected to wrestle at 149 or 157 pounds for the Cobbers.

Miller is the second Hornet wrestler to commit to the Cobbers this season joining teammate Tanner Schermerhorn.

The Cobber program has a home feel for Frazee grapplers. Head coach Clay Nagel was with the Cobbers for eight seasons, seven as head coach, prior to returning to take over the Hornets’ program for a second time.

Miller is a two-time state qualifier at 113-pounds last season and at 106-pounds as a sophomore. He is currently ranked No. 6 at 120 pounds in Class A and projected to wrestle at 125-pounds for the Cobbers.

Concordia is now led by head coach Phil Moenkedick, who took over for Matt Nagel in 2016. The change was the first time the Cobbers’ program was not under a Nagel’s tutelage since 2004.

Moenkedick, a former Yellowjacket wrestler and coach, took over the Concordia job after leaving Perham where he was an assistant under Robb Moser and after serving under Matt Nagel as a Cobbers assistant.

Moenkedick won won two NCAA national championships, three west region championships and set the school record for all-time wins at Concordia with 135.

The Cobbers have two Hornets on this year’s team in senior heavyweight Kody Van Den Eykel and sophomore 184-pounder Jonah Lange.
