The Governor’s Quilt can be viewed at the Becker County Museum in Detroit Lakes. The quilt, made in 2000, features the neck ties of 18 governors from that year. Ruth Hovdenes, the Detroit Lakes woman who made the quilt, also made two pillows with ties from other governors who sent them after the quilt was completed. Hovdenes passed away in 2005. You can either write or engrave your message onto these pendants, or have museum staff do it for you. The innovators, inventors and entrepreneurs traveling exhibit is showcased in the Becker County Museum from now until Feb. 16, when it will then leave and be displayed in various other museums throughout northwest Minnesota.
