The DLCCC hosted a full house of players during its holiday pickleball tournament on Dec. 20. There were 15 players which is the maximum for the three courts available.  Winners were (kneeling, left to right): Howie Lohman, first place; Jerry Enget, second place; and George Van Dam, third place. Pickleball is hosted each weekday morning by the DLCCC. All ages and abilities are welcome to join in. Players mix throughout the morning. Paddles are available. (Submitted photo)

Steve and Beth Hedstrom have always had a philosophy of appreciating every day, but after Steve narrowly escaped a sudden cardiac arrest, they both realize how lucky he is to be alive. They credit his survival to a group of strangers at the Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center in Detroit Lakes, who worked together and “did everything right” to save him.
