Nathan Olson, area fisheries supervisor with the DNR in Detroit Lakes, stands in Shell Lake at the outlet that becomes the Shell River. Plans call for the removal of the old dam there and its replacement with rocks that will keep the water level the same while allowing fish to leave and enter the shallow lake.
