FORMER DETROIT LAKES RESIDENT Carol Anne Hough has written an educational children's play, "Garden Adventures," that will be produced by a school in Queensland, Australia on Dec. 8. Two earlier plays in Hough's environmentally-themed series, "Orchard Adventures" and "Wetland Adventures," were presented at the Historic Holmes Theatre in 2005 and 2007, respectively.

THIS 1,300-FOOT GRASSED WATERWAY PROJECT ON THE LEFEBRVRES'  property took roughly two years to complete, and drains approximately 1,300 acres of land -- not all of it belonging to the Lefebvres. The entire project cost over $100,000, with the Lefebvres contributing more than 50 percent of the total funding themselves.  "I have no regrets," Randy Lefebvre says.

PETER JACOBSON will officially begin his duties as the new president of Essentia Health-St. Mary's on Monday, Oct. 3. Though he and his wife Ann live in Fargo, he said he will be spending "75 to 80 percent" of his time in Detroit Lakes, in addition to serving as senior vice president of the western Minnesota market for Essentia, which includes overseeing facilities in Ada, Fosston, Park Rapids and Menahga, among others.

DAVE CHRISTENSEN became the new youth pastor at Community Alliance Church in Detroit Lakes on July 1. Before that, however, he had served as the church's worship music director for a couple of years. He was also a choir director and general music teacher at Frazee-Vergas High School for three years until taking the job in Detroit Lakes, where he currently lives with his wife and two children.

Pam Slifka took over for Lou Guzek as Detroit Lakes city finance officer. She has been working with numbers most of her life, starting at a young age, getting involved with her parents' businesses. She has a degree in business, minor in accounting and is a certified public accountant as well.
