A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to commemorate the grand opening of the new Discovery Center Saturday at Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge. Wetland restoration is going on at Tamarac. The wetland at left is located just east of the maintenance/headquarters complex. The wetland was disturbed in the 1930s, and the aim of the project is to establish a more natural hydrology, creating a productive shallow wetland for waterfowl and other water birds. SUBMITTED PHOTO
