June 16, 1954-Nov. 15, 2010 Phyllis S. Schulman, also known as "Asinigequag" or "Rock Woman" 56, of Ponsford, died Monday, November 15, 2010 at St. Mary's Essentia Health, surrounded by her loving family following a battle with cancer. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18 in the Old Pine Point School. A Traditional Ceremony will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, in the Old Pine Point School, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 1 p.m. in St. Theodore Catholic Church, Ponsford. Phyllis Simmon Rock was born to Simon Rock Sr.
Oct. 25, 1957-Nov. 15, 2010 Richard G. "Rick" Goodman, 53, of White Earth, died Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Frazee Care Center in Frazee. Friends may call from 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18 until 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19 at the White Earth Community Center. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday. A mass of Christian burial is set for 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in White Earth, with Father Walter Butor, O.M.I., officiating.
July 31, 1939-Nov. 10, 2010 Gretchen Tronnes Johnson, 71, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010, in Roseville, Minn., after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Born July 31, 1939 in Fargo, Gretchen was raised in Duluth and summered in Detroit Lakes. Arrangements were entrusted to Roseville Memorial Chapel, 651-631-2727.
Helen Bertha Hillstrom, 90, of Vergas, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Innovis Health in Fargo. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16 in United Methodist Church, Vergas, with Rev. Gary Klempke officiating. There will be visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church, and a luncheon will be hosted by the church following the service, for all to attend. Interment will be made in the Vergas Village Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Furey Funeral Home, serving Frazee and Vergas.
Nov. 12, 1918-Nov. 9, 2010 Vincent R. Lefebvre, 91, of Ogema, went home to be with his Lord, Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14 at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. The visitation will continue for one hour prior to mass at the church on Monday. A mass of Christian burial is set for 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15 at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Ogema, with Father Walter Butor, O.M.I. and Father Jerry Orsino, O.M.I., officiating.
Eugene James "Gene" Eischens, 82, of Ponsford, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 11 at St. Theodore's Catholic Church, Ponsford, preceded by visitation at the Old Pine Point School. David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, has been serving the family.
May 4, 1973-Nov. 9, 2010 Wade D. Bergman, 37, of Rochert, died Tuesday, November 9, 2010 in Crookston. Wade Douglas Bergman was born to Douglas and Sharon Larson Bergman on May 4, 1973 in Cheverly, Maryland. He grew up and attended school in Moorhead, graduating from Moorhead High School in 1991. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Moorhead. Following his graduation from high school he attended the University of Minnesota Crookston for a year, and later moved to Alabama, where he pursued a career in landscaping.
Dec. 8, 1930-Nov. 9, 2010 Devine Leland "Jake" Ochsner was born to Gustave and Emelia (Boehler) Ochsner on December 8, 1930 in Mobridge, S.D. He grew up on a farm east of Mobridge and attended a one-room country school (Lincoln) until moving into Mobridge in 1943. Devine graduated from Mobridge High School in 1948. He worked at J.C. Penney during high school and a few years after, before joining the South Dakota National Guard. He served as Army sergeant in Alaska during the Korean War, doing cold weather wilderness troop mobilization missions.
Hillard "Bill" Bielke, 86, of Frazee, died Ssaturday, November 6, 2010 in Waconia, Minn. Visitation will be at noon Friday, Nov. 12,, followed by the funeral at 1 p.m., in Furey Funeral Home, Frazee. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Frazee.
Nov. 1, 1931-Nov. 6, 2010 Lowell D. Barnum, 79, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family and under care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at First Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, continuing for one our prior to services on Saturday. Funeral services for Lowell will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 in First Lutheran Church. Interment will take place at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov.
