Sept. 8, 1918-March 16, 2010 Adeline Rothschadl, 91, of Detroit Lakes, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Innovis Health in Fargo. Funeral services for Adeline will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 22, in Zion Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, with Reverend Dan Abrahams officiating. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to services on Monday. Interment will be in the spring at Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes. Adeline was born to Joseph and Anna (Fletcher) Bertek on September 8, 1918 at the family farm near White Earth. She was raised and educated near White Earth.
July 29, 1930-March 14, 2010 Angeletta D. Ross, 79, of Cass Lake, Minn., passed away at her home on Little Wolf Lake on Sunday, March 14, 2010, surrounded by her family. Angeletta Delores Henry was born to Samuel and Marie Henry on July 29, 1930 in White Earth. She graduated from Flandreau Boarding School in South Dakota. Angeletta married George Mark Ross on January 14, 1950. She attended St. Catherine's College in St. Paul, and later worked at Medtronic in New Brighton, Minn. Angeletta was a licensed Ojibwe language teacher.
Jan. 11, 1942-March 12, 2010 Kathleen A. Anderson, 68, of Detroit Lakes, died Friday, March 12, 2010 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Saturday, March 20 at David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, with Pastor Jeff Teeples officiating. Friends may call from 12 noon until 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Holt Cemetery at Holt, Minn. Kathleen Ann "Kathy" Anderson was born to Clarence and Anna (Lapic) Smith on January 11, 1942 in Thief River Falls, Minn.
Jan. 24, 1930-March 10, 2010 Richard A. "Dick" Tovson, 80, of Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Innovis Health in Fargo. Dick was born the son of Arthur and Hazel "Toots" (Klomstad) Tovson on January 24, 1930, in Detroit Lakes. He was baptized on March 10, 1930 and confirmed on May 14, 1944 at First Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes. Dick was raised and educated in Detroit Lakes. He excelled at sports, especially baseball and basketball. Dick graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1947.
Feb. 10, 1924-March 10, 2010 Norman E. Nelson, 86, of Lake Park, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010. Norman Elmer Nelson was born to Ernest and Minnie (Olson) Nelson on February 10, 1924 in Glyndon, Minn. He attended District 2 country school and Lake Park High School, graduating in 1943. He served in the U.S. Navy and then attended the Institutional On-Farm Training Class at the Detroit Lakes High School. Norman married DeLoyne Eilertson on April 4, 1947 at the Lake Park Lutheran Church parsonage. They purchased the farm in 1949 and he lived there the rest of his life.
June 19, 1943-March 8, 2010 Former Wadena resident Pauline M. Anderson, 66, of Detroit Lakes, died Monday, March 8, 2010 at her residence in Detroit Lakes. Funeral services for Pauline will be held 10 a.m. Friday, March 12 at United Methodist Church, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held at David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes on Thursday, March 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will also continue one hour prior to services on Friday. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clarissa, Minn. Pauline Marie Moen was born to Samuel and Dorothy (Covel) Moen on June 19, 1943.
June 17, 1943-March 6, 2010 Paul C. "Curt" Chapman, 66, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes surrounded by family and friends, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Curt was born to Malcolm and Olivia (Caspers) Chapman on June 17, 1943 in Detroit Lakes, where he grew up and received his education, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1961. He attended Moorhead State University from 1963-1967. Curt joined the National Guard in 1967 and served for several years.
Oct. 12, 1925-March 4, 2010 Mavis A. Swapp, 84, of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at St. Mary's Innovis Heath, Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. Mavis Annabelle Sanden was born to Edward and Clara (Nelson) Sanden on October 12, 1925 in rural Ogema. She grew up and attended District 54 country school there. She then attended Ulen High School, where she graduated in 1945. She attended Moorhead State Teachers College, where she obtained both an associate degree in education and a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education.
June 29, 1920-March 7, 2010 Detroit Lakes native Patricia Billie Bunnell Andrews, 89, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 7, 2010. Patricia was born June 29, 1920 in Detroit Lakes.
John E. Sime, 92, died Sunday, March 7, 2010 in St. Paul. John had been a summer resident on Lake Sallie in Detroit Lakes for the last 40 years, and spent most of his summers there after retirement. Surviving John are his wife, Ruth; two daughters; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by his one brother and two sisters, including Mrs. Rollie (Bette) Kjos in Detroit Lakes.
