July 18, 1991-Feb. 14, 2010 Lifelong Frazee resident, Tyler Shipman, 18, lost his earthly battle with cancer at his home in Frazee and went peacefully to meet his heavenly father on Sunday February 14, 2010. Tyler Jay Shipman was born to Jay and Daneele (Stoll) Shipman on July 18, 1991, at Dakota Hospital in Fargo. He attended Frazee High School as a senior until his illness. Tyler was baptized at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, in September 1991, and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Evergreen, in April 2007. Tyler was a very active young man who loved life.
Former Frazee resident Joel Mark Quittschreiber, 47, of Wadena, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Parkview Group Home, surrounded by his loved ones. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 16 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Evergreen, with the Rev. Tony Close officiating. Interment was in the Quittschreiber family plot at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Evergreen. Arrangements were entrusted to Jones-Pearson Funeral Home.
June 12, 1922-Feb. 12, 2010 Alvin L. Rosentreter, age 87, a lifelong Vergas area resident, passed away under hospice care on Friday, February 12, 2010 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Alvin was born to Emil and Erna (Zitzow) Rosentreter on June 12, 1922 in Dora Township, Otter Tail County. He grew up and attended school in Dora Twp. through the eighth grade. Following his schooling, Alvin remained in Dora Twp., where he worked on the family farm. On June 15, 1944, Alvin was united in marriage to Ruth Glawe at Zion Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes.
May 4, 1940-Feb. 11, 2010 Former Hillsboro, N.D., resident John P. Wesbrook, 69, of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. He was recovering from a stroke suffered two months before, on Dec. 7. Funeral services for John will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 18, in First Lutheran Church of Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 16 from 5 to 8 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Interment of ashes will be held at a private family cemetery.
Aug. 17, 1943-Feb. 12, 2010 Sharon A. McGhee, 66, passed away Friday, February 12, 2010 in Portsmouth, Va. Sharon Ann Saddoris was born to Cecil Saddoris and Ethel Saddoris Wright on August 17, 1943 in Denison, Iowa. She retired from Portsmouth Naval Hospital and was co-owner of Barons Pub in Portsmouth and Suffolk, Amicis Restaurant Suffolk and Amore Casual Italian Restaurant Portsmouth. As a child, Sharon was raised around the lakes in Minnesota, at Park Rapids and Detroit Lakes. She was a kind and generous friend to many.
July 17, 1938-Feb. 10, 2010 Paul R. Storm, 71, of Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Funeral services for Paul are set for 11 a.m. Monday, February 15 at Bakke Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes, with Reverend Greg Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services on Monday. Interment will be in the spring at Bakke Lutheran Cemetery, rural Detroit Lakes.
Dec. 23, 1919-Jan. 23, 2010 Verne N. Jensen, 90, of Santa Barbara, Calif., died peacefully in his home on Saturday, January 23, 2010, surrounded by his wife and family. Verne Norvel Jensen was born the oldest son of Clarence and May (Gladen) Jensen on December 23, 1919 in Rochert. He graduated from Detroit Lakes High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Marian Louise Bussell in 1943.
June 12, 1941-Feb. 9, 2010 Vernon Edward "Ed" Bryngelson, 68, of Callaway, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at his residence, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Ed Bryngelson was born to Vernon and Emma "Peg" (Hazelton) Bryngelson on June 12, 1941 in rural Callaway. He attended Detroit Lakes High School and later, agricultural college in Crookston, Minn. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1959, and later served in the National Guard, retiring in 2000.
Julius "Sonny" Webster Jr., 73, of White Earth, died Saturday, February 6, 2010 at St. Mary's Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. A wake will begin Wednesday, Feb. 10 at the Redby Community Center, and continues through Thursday, February 11. Interment will be at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Genevieve Brubaker, 85, of Dickinson, N.D., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 5, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Private family graveside inurnment services, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, will take place later this spring at the Ogema Protestant Cemetery in Ogema. Genevieve is survived by her five children, Millard (Ann) Brubaker of Andover, Minn., Bruce (Arlene) Brubaker of West Fargo, Brian (Lynn) Brubaker of Ray, N.D., Gale (Larry) Graham of Dickinson and Perry (Cherri) Brubaker of Arvilla, N.D.
