Eileen O. Hendrickx, 79, of Butler, Minn., died at her home on Friday, June 6, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, June 8, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Butler. Visitation will resume for one hour prior to Monday's funeral at the church. A funeral mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, June 9, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Butler. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Karvonen & Son Funeral Home of New York Mills, Minn.
Dec. 13, 1944-May 20, 2008 Roger L. Watson, 63, of Clara City, Minn., passed away on Monday, May 20, 2008 at the Clara City Care Center, surrounded by his family. Roger Lloyd Watson, son of Marlyn and Evelyn (Bouchard) Watson, was born Dec. 13, 1944 in Duluth, Minn., where he grew up and received his education. At the age of 17, Roger enlisted in the United States Army. He ended up serving in the Army, Air Force and National Guard throughout his career in the military.
July 10, 1935-May 19, 2008 James R. Frigstad, 72, of Detroit Lakes, died at hgis home on Monday, May 19, 2008, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. James Rudolph Samuel Frigstad was born to Rudolph S. and Martha (Kystad) Frigstad on July 10, 1935 in Montclair, N.J. He was raised in Portland, N.D., and St. Paul, Minn. He served with the U.S. Air Force. Following his discharge, he returned to St. Paul, where he worked in retail management for Robert Hall Stores. James married Mary Parker Jan. 27, 1968 in Minneapolis.
Feb. 9, 1922-Dec. 1, 2007 Detroit Lakes native Mary R. Peterson, 85, of Faribault, Minn., died of congestive heart failure on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault. Mary Rebecca Cowles was born to Dr. Edgar and Anna Cowles on Feb. 9, 1922 in Detroit Lakes. She graduated from Holmes High School in Detroit Lakes in 1940. She married Lawrence "Pete" Peterson in 1941. They moved to the Minnetonka area, where her husband owned a construction company. Mary worked in Wayzata at Hillcrest Nursing Home, in the physical therapy department.
Feb. 26, 1916-May 20, 2008 Dollie Jacobson, 92, of Frazee, died on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, in the Frazee Care Center. Dollie Lenius was born to August and Francis (Ruzicka) Lenius on Feb. 26, 1916, at Frazee. She attended country school through eighth grade. She was baptized Rosella Hazel Josephine Lenius at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee on May 7, 1916, but she was always called Dollie. She legally changed her name to Dollie at age 82, when she needed a passport to take a trip to Israel for her grand-niece's wedding.
June 5, 1928-May 17, 2008 Adolph I. Ilse, 79, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Adolph Iver Ilse was born to Arthur and Julia (Moe) Ilse on June 5, 1928 in Pipestone, Minn. As a young boy he moved with his family to Egan, S.D., where he was raised and educated. He served with the U. S. Army, 1946-71. Following his discharge, he moved to Mitchell, S.D., where he farmed and worked as a handyman. Adolph married Pat in 1968 in Mitchell. She died in 1978. In 1979 Adolph moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., where he worked as a security guard.
James Frigstad, 72, of Detroit Lakes, died at his home on Monday, May 19, 2008, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Funeral services are scheduled for 12 noon on Friday, May 23 in the Living Room at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes. Friends may call at the church for one hour prior to the start of services on Friday. The David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes is serving the family.
Sept. 5, 1912-May 15, 2008 Josephine E. Kirk, 95, of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at St. Mary's Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes. Josephine Pavlick was born to John and Anna (Cimballa) Pavlick on Sept. 5, 1912 in South Chicago, Ill. She grew up in Gary, Ind., where she graduated from Horseman High School. Josephine married Harold Kirk, and they made their home in Gary until moving to Danville, Ill., and later Hot Springs, Ariz., where they operated lounges. They retired and moved to Barefoot Bay, Fla., where they enjoyed their retirement.
Oct. 3, 1988-May 17, 2008 Former Ogema resident Adam C. Davis, 19, of Wahpeton, N.D., died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at his home. Adam Christopher Davis was born Oct. 3, 1988 in Crookston, Minn. He lived in a number of communities prior to coming to live with Greg Lee and Angela Struthers in rural Ogema at the age of 15. He is a 2007 graduate of Detroit Lakes High School and had recently moved to Wahpeton, where he was employed with Pinewood Manufacturing.
May 6, 1943-May 16, 2008 Ardis M. Guthrie, 65, of rural Ogema, died Friday, May 16, 2008 at her home under care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Ardis Marie Bunde was born to Clayton and Julia (Mahold) Bunde on May 6, 1943 in Good Thunder, Minn. She was raised and educated in the Good Thunder and Mankato, Minn., area. Ardis married James Guthrie in November 1959 at Mankato. They lived in Mankato until moving to rural Ogema in 1977. Jim died June 6, 2006.
