Monte McDougall Nereson Chevrolet and Cadillac recently hired McDougall as a sales consultant. McDougall has worked for Nabisco as a sales representative and is currently working on earning a business degree in sales and marketing online through M State. He says he is excited to sell vehicles to customers and earning trust as a sales consultant. "I know I'm doing something right when I get referrals," he said. At 4:26 p.m. Wednesday the Detroit Lakes Police Department was notified of a train-pedestrian accident along Highway 10 between Corbett and Jackson Avenues, where a 13-year-old boy was injured while crossing the railroad tracks. A BNSF train was westbound, approaching the same area as the boy. The train crew observed the boy on the tracks and sounded the bells and horns, but the boy did not hear the train approaching.
Tuesday, March 28 At 1:41 p.m. a radio was reportedly stolen from a vehicle while it was parked on the 200 block of Elm Street in Detroit Lakes. At 3:28 p.m. officers responded to the theft of a pistol stolen from a vehicle parked on the 21000 block of Highway 23 in Detroit Lakes. At 5:32 p.m. a caller reported a burglary, which occurred on the 36000 block of Highway 34 in Ogema. Wednesday, March 29 At 9:07 a.m. tennis shoes were reportedly stolen from the 1300 block of Roosevelt Avenue. The shoes were later recovered.
Emergency crews responded to a call of a fire on the 400 block of Union Street East in Detroit Lakes just after 2 p.m. today, where a homeowner was doing a basement reconstruction project and using a chemical sealant that flashed, causing him and his wife to be burned. St. Mary's EMS took both of the victims to the emergency room for treatment, while the Detroit Lakes Fire Department worked to keep the fire contained.
The Detroit Lakes School Board will hold a community meeting concerning the district's space issues on April 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Middle School Auditorium. The school board is encouraging people to attend, stressing that they really want community input as they move forward with planning a new referendum proposal. "This is the opportunity for the community to make their voice heard," said School Board Chair David Langworthy. It's their chance to come with ideas...and be open to discussing ideas."
Britton Ramsey has joined American National Bank as the new branch manager. Ramsey brings 12 years of experience in the mortgage and lending industry and has a Bachelor's of Science degree from Bemidji State University in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management and is also a Detroit Lakes High School graduate.

She brings ten years of customer service and office management experience to her position.
