Pelant-Gibson engagement Lawrence and Barbara Pelant of Webster, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Katherine Pelant to Travis Robert Gibson, son of Kevin and Sandra of Embarrass. Miss Pelant is a 2004 graduate of Northfield High School and is pursuing a Registered Nursing Degree from Minnesota State Community and Technical College. Mr. Gibson is a 2000 graduate of J.F.K. High School in Babbitt. In 2002 he received his associate's degree in machine tool technology from Central Lakes College in Staples.

March 29, 1923-June 28, 2006 Cecil H. Galbrecht, 83, of Frazee, died Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at St. Mary's Nursing Center in Detroit Lakes. Cecil was born to Louis and Ida (Bohne) Galbrecht on March 29, 1923 in Height of Land Township.
May 6, 1952-June 26, 2006 Ray C. Bedford, 54, of Frazee, died Monday, June 26, 2006, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo. He was diagnosed with leukemia in March. Ray Charles Bedford was born May 6, 1952 in Whittier, Calif. He spent most of his young life by the ocean, fishing, surfing and bike riding by the shore. From the beginning he loved drawing, and was quickly taken under his artist mother's wing for guidance and instruction. Ray received his bachelor's degree in art from the University of California-Irvine. He held many graphic artist positions, but never seemed to find his niche.
Dec. 2, 1907-June 27, 2006 Edna V. Anderson, 98, of Ulen, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006. Edna Violette Brand, the fourth of seven children of Conrad and Annie (Clemetson) Brand, was born on Dec. 2, 1907 at Goodrich, N.D. The family later moved to Clay County in Minnesota, then into Hawley in 1922, where Edna graduated from Hawley High School in 1926. She attended the Moorhead State Teachers College for one year, received her teacher's certificate there, and taught school for seven years in Clay County.
Former Fargo resident Joseph Edward Duncan III confessed to kidnapping Shasta and Dylan Groene and to other crimes against their family shortly after his arrest in Idaho nearly one year ago, court documents say. But Duncan's defense attorney will ask at an Aug. 22 hearing in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, that statements prosecutors say Duncan made be kept out of his upcoming murder trial. Duncan, 43, was arrested July 2 for the hammer murders of Brenda Groene, the children's mother; her fiancé, Mark McKenzie; and Groene's 13-year-old son, Slade.
A Dent man had his first appearance in Becker County District Court on two felony charges Wednesday. District Judge Lisa Borgen set bond at $12,000 against Lance Ennenga, 27, of 302 Ralwey Avenue. His next court appearance is July 10. Ennenga is charged with one count each of first-degree driving while impaired-.08 or more and first-degree DWI. Each charge carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison and a $14,000 fine. According to the court complaint, a deputy arrested Ennenga after he was found sleeping in his pickup with the engine idling. The vehicle was parked in Frazee.
Seven of those arrested Monday in a raid on the Glyndon Mobile Home Park made their first appearances Monday on drug charges in Clay County District Court in Moorhead. Appearing in court were Reynaldo Garcia Sr., 44; Reynaldo Garcia Jr., 27; another of Garcia Sr.'s sons, Ricky Garcia, 22; Juan Garcia, 20; George Ortiz, 22; Julio Resendez, 34; and Adraina Medina, 20. Garcia Jr.'s wife, Aracellia Garcia, 26, and two juveniles, ages 15 and 17, also were arrested in Monday's raid. Aracellia Garcia is in the custody of the U.S.
