New Creation Lutheran Church will celebrate the arrival of its first pastor, Rev. Paul Anderson, on Sunday, July 16, which is when Anderson will give his first sermon as pastor. Anderson has answered the call from New Creation Luth-eran Church of Perham, a newly formed LCMC congregation which started worship services on Easter Sunday. Worship services have been lead by supply pastors, including Anderson. He will be officially installed in September. Jim Nordbeck, president of the search task force, stated.

A Detroit Lakes man made his first appearance in Becker County District Court on a felony charge Wednesday for the armed robbery of a Detroit Lakes convenience store last December. District Judge John Pearson set bond at $100,000 against Kyle Rusness, 22, of 925 West Avenue, for first-degree aggravated robbery. His next court appearance is July 17. Rusness is accused of robbing the County 6 BP Convenience Store at knifepoint in the late evening hours of Dec.

The Becker County Sheriff's Department has hired another deputy. Todd Glander, Detroit Lakes, began his duties as a patrol deputy June 30. He becomes the 12th deputy in the patrol division, filling a vacancy created when a second narcotics officer was named to assist with investigations in that regard. For the past 13 years, Glander has worked with the Detroit Lakes Police Department as a patrol officer.
