July 11, 1937-June 9, 2011 Carolyn E. Engebretson, 73, of Rochert, died Thursday, June 9, 2011 at her home, under the care of her sons and friends, with help from Hospice of the Red River Valley. Carolyn was born the daughter of Henry and Mabel (Bergland) Lindskog on July 11, 1937 in Duluth, Minn. She was raised in Grand Marias, Minn. Carolyn attended Maple Hill Elementary School and graduated from Cook County High School in 1955.
Oct. 26, 1932-June 8, 2011 Margaret Lomsdal, 78, of Lake Park, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 8, 2011, peacefully in her home. Margaret was born to Anne (Nelson) and Earl Adams on October 26, 1932. She grew up and attended school in Moorhead, graduating from Moorhead High School in 1950. On February 27, 1953 she married her high school sweetheart, Douglas Lomsdal, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. They made their home in Moorhead until 1984, when they moved to the lake. Together they had four children, Sandra, Scott, Shannon and Steven.
Dec. 27, 1918-June 8, 2011 Jerome P. Leegard Sr., 92, of rural Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Jerome was born the son of Joseph and Petrina (Berg) Leegard on December 27, 1918 in Hamden Township, rural Becker County. He attended country school in District 44. Jerome was united in marriage to Marjorie Britton on May 31, 1942 at Richwood Lutheran Church. They made their home in Hamden Township, where Jerome farmed his entire life.
July 8, 1959-June 8, 2011 Former Audubon resident Timothy M. Hauge, 51, of Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Sanford Health in Fargo. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Monday, June 13 at Lake Euncie Evangelical Free Church in rural Detroit Lakes, with Reverend Dale Robbins officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 12 at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, and at the church for one hour prior to services on Monday. Timothy Myron Hauge was born to Myron and Gloria (Rierson) Hauge on July 8, 1959 in Fergus Falls.
March 16, 1918-June 3, 2011 Ardith Lois Knight Langlie was born to Bess Mabel (Scribner) and William Kenedrick Knight on March 16, 1918 in the city of Thief River Falls. She lived most of her life in Thief River Falls and briefly resided in Detroit Lakes. She passed peacefully at her home, 100 Breezy Drive in Thief River Falls, "the most wonderful place in the world," on Friday, June 3, 2011, surrounded by loved ones. Ardith was a member of the Methodist Church her entire life. She attended Knox Elementary and graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.
Delia L. Seaburg, 94, of Detroit Lakes, died Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Essentia Health St. Mary's in Detroit Lakes. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 11 in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, with visitation for one hour before services. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
Nevaeh Jade Parisian, infant daughter of Chrystal Parisian of Waubun, was born and died on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at St. Mary's Essentia Health in Detroit Lakes. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Friday, June 10 at the Assembly of God Church in White Earth, with Pastor Tim Brown officiating. Friends may call at the church for one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Chief Cornerstone Cemetery, rural White Earth. The David-Donehower Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes is serving the family.
March 25, 1918-June 5, 2011 Former Detroit Lakes resident Edward F. Mulligan, 93, of Durand, Wis., died Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, Wis. Ed was born the son of John and Anna (Culley) Mulligan on March 25, 1918 in Pumpkin Hollow at Pine Island, Minn. At a young age, Ed moved with his family to Plainview, and graduated from Plainview High School. After high school Ed joined the U.S. Army, and served during World War II in Guadalcanal as a medic, earning a Bronze Star.
Melissa Keezer, 30, of Waubun, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo. Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Friday, June 3, in her parents' home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4 in Samuel Memorial Episcopal Church, Naytahwaush, with burial in the Kier Family Cemetery, Naytahwaush. Anderson-Mattson Funeral Home of Mahnomen is handling arrangements.
July 5, 1926-June 2, 2011 Ethel J. Nassett Bryant, 84, of Tomah, Wis., died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Tomah Memorial Hospital in Tomah. Ethel was born to Knudt and Josephine (Miller) Nassett on July 5, 1926 in Becker County. She was united in marriage to Jack Bryant on January 14, 1950 in Denver, Colo. Ethel attended the St. Luke's School of Nursing in Duluth, Minn. She worked in numerous areas in the nursing profession. She worked for the Detroit Lakes Clinic until 1964, when she then took a nursing job at the Tomah Department of Veterans Affairs.
