July 24, 1920-Oct. 13, 2009 Norbert "Norb" Ditterick, Sr., 89, of Detroit Lakes, a loving husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend, went home to the Lord Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, with a Prayer Service from 6 to 7 p.m., at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes, and continuing one hour prior to the mass at the church on Friday. A mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Msgr. Tim McGee officiating.
Marlene L. Hickel, 71, of Detroit Lakes, died Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. Private family services will be held. The David-Donehower Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes is assisting with arrangements.
June 22, 1929-Oct. 11, 2009 Robert F. Arnold, 80, of rural Osage, passed away peacefully at his Toad Lake Home on Sunday, October 11, 2009 under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born the son of John and Marie (Barta) Arnold on June 22, 1929, on their farm near Hawley. He attended Hawley High School, graduating in 1947. Bob received his Bachelor's and Master's Degree from Moorhead State College. Bob was united in marriage to Diane Swenson in 1950.
Sept. 20, 1948-Oct. 12, 2009 Harold D. Cossette, 61, of Audubon, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his family. Harold was born to John and Mildred (Lorenzen) Cossette on Sept. 20, 1948 in Hawley. They moved to Lake Park in 1959. Harold married Janet Brahmer on Sept. 24, 1966 in Detroit Lakes, at Lund Lutheran Church. They lived in Hawley, Minn., Kenosha, Wis., and later made their home in rural Audubon. Harold worked for Ulven Gravel from 1970 to 1988 and had worked for Aggregate from 1989 to 2008, when he retired.
Oct. 15, 1921-Oct. 6, 2009 Former Felton resident Grace E. Jensen, 87, of Ada, Minn., died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Bridges Care Community in Ada. Grace Elene Stevenson was born the daughter of Maurice and Alvina (Kolle) Stevenson on Oct. 15, 1921 in Roosevelt, Minn. The family moved to a farm west of Felton. Grace attended country school thru 8th grade and graduated from Felton High School. She then attended the Crookston (Minn.) Agricultural College, taking bookkeeping courses. She returned to Felton and worked as a bookkeeper at Pete's Garage and also drove school bus.
Detroit Lakes native Robert A. "Bob" Eide, 83, passed away October 3, 2009, while he and his wife, Ruth, were visiting family in Minneapolis. Bob was born in Detroit Lakes, and served in the Navy during World War II. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, in 1948. Pursuing his lifelong passion for journalism, he first worked as the associate editor of the Detroit Lakes Tribune. Later, he was the city editor of the Daily Freeman-Journal in Webster City, Iowa.
March 24, 1938-Oct. 6, 2009 Arlene C. Larson, 71, of Lake Park, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 in Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, surrounded by her loving family. Arlene Carol Norman, was born to Oscar and Clara Norman in Hawley, MN. She graduated from Hawley High School in 1956. Arlene married Victor H. Larson, Jr. on August 25, 1956 in Hawley. In 1958 they moved to Lake Park. She worked at the Hilltop Lounge and later at the Lake Park Liquor Store for 28 years, where she was known as "Pixie." She retired in 1998. She loved cooking and dancing.
Nov. 3, 1951-Oct. 9, 2009 Bonnie A. Wolff 57, of Detroit Lakes, died Friday Oct. 9, 2009 at St. Mary's Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes. Bonnie Ann Wolff was born to Orville and Alice (Murray) Greminger on November 3, 1951 in Renton, Wash. They moved to rural Detroit Lakes when Bonnie was a young girl. There she grew up and attended school, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1969. In 1971, Bonnie was united in marriage to Doug Irish. They farmed near Waubun.
Gene A. Miller, 65, of Rothsay, Minn., died Thursday, October 8, 2009in Lake Region Hospital, Fergus Falls, Minn. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 12 at the Berean Baptist Church in Detroit Lakes. The David-Donehower Funeral Home provided arrangements.
Helen Shaw, 81, of Frazee passed away on Friday, October 9, 2009 at the Frazee Care Center. Visitation was held Sunday, Oct. 11 at Sacred Heart Church in Frazee. A mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The David-Donehower Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes was entrusted with arrangements.
