Former Detroit Lakes resident Douglas "Doug" Erickson, 84, of Fergus Falls, died Monday, October 3, 2011 at Pioneer Care of Fergus Falls. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Larson Funeral Home in Pelican Rapids. Services are set for 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids, with Pastor Roger Rotvold officiating. Burial will be in Cormorant Lutheran Cemetery, Cormorant. Larson Funeral Home of Pelican Rapids is providing arrangements.
Fritzine E. Madzo, 68, of Vergas, died Monday, October 3, 2011 at Sanford Health in Fargo. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 in the Furey Vergas Chapel in Vergas. Lunch will be served following the service. Furey Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
March 27, 1937-Oct. 4, 2011 Arlene Frances Kolle, 74, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, joined her lord and savior after a year-long battle with cancer on Tuesday, October 4, 2011. Arlene Frances Wehking, the daughter of Carl and Mamie (Minnick) Wehking, was born March 27, 1937, at their farm home just northeast of Cosmos, Minn., in Meeker County. Arlene was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church located in Brookfield Township, Hector, Minn. She attended Litchfield Public School, graduating in 1955.
July 23, 1927-Oct. 2, 2011 Marion S. Krump, 84, of Detroit Lakes, died Sunday, October 2, 2011 under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley at the Golden Manor in Detroit Lakes. Marion was born the daughter of Joseph and Alice (Pladsen) Forberg on July 23, 1927 in Cooperstown, N.D. She was raised and educated in Sharon, N.D. Marion was married to Richard Dronen in 1946 and they later divorced. Marion went to Josef's School of Hair Design in Moorhead.
May 7, 1935-Oct. 3, 2011 Maynard A. "Andy" Anderson, 76, of Detroit Lakes, died Monday, October 3, 2011 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7 at Grace Lutheran Church with Reverend Rob Nelson officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 at David-Donehower Funeral Home.
Nov. 20, 1966-Oct. 2, 2011 Eric Dean Grina, 44, of Audubon, died Sunday, October 2, 2011, as a result of a train/automobile accident near Audubon. Eric was born the son of Dennis Gary and Carol Lynn (Danielson) Grina on November 20, 1966 in Eau Claire, Wis. In 1985 he graduated from high school and went on to attend airline mechanic training in Thief River Falls. On February 10, 1990 he married Renae Shetler at Christian Fellowship in Detroit Lakes.
Oct. 10, 1938-Sept. 30, 2011 Faye J. Erickson, 72, of Audubon, died Friday, September 30, 2011 at her home. Friends may call from 5 t 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3 at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes and at the church one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4 in First Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, with Reverend David Peterson officiating. Interment will be in the Hawley Cemetery, Hawley. Faye Janice Erickson was born to Arthur and Alice (Cederberg) Anderson on October 10, 1938 in Hawley.
Sept. 5, 1934-Aug. 26, 2011 Ann Richter (nee Tabor), 76, of Little McDonald Lake, Perham, went to be with her Lord on Friday, August 26, 2011, after courageously battling cancer for five years. She is preceded in death by husband Jim, parents Anna and Charles Tabor, sister Rose Gytri, brother-in-law Lloyd Gytri, and sister-in-law Millie Tabor.
April 22, 1929-Sept. 28, 2011 Former Ulen and Lake Park resident Eileen M. Cary, 82, of Dilworth, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 in Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, surrounded by her loving family. Eileen M. Syverson was born to Selmer and Cora (Morken) Syverson on April 22, 1929, near Ulen. She grew up and attended school at District 29 and Ulen High School. Eileen married Harold Cary on March 14, 1947, in Moorhead, and they made their home in the Ulen area until moving to Lake Park in 1967.
Dec. 18, 1920-Sept. 27, 2011 Mary Pauline Stowman, 90, of Rothsay, Minn., died Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls. She was born the daughter of homesteaders Christian M. and Ida (Lowe) Sorum on December 18, 1920, in a sod house in Perkins County near Sorum, S.D. She was raised on the farm, riding horseback to grade school. She attended Sorum High School for three years and graduated from Bison High School in 1938. She then attended Moorhead State Teacher's College, receiving her teaching certificate in 1940.
