Glendalough State Park, located in Battle Lake, will host a candlelight ski event on Saturday, March 11. The public can ski approximately one and a half miles of lighted trail at 6:30-9:30 p.m. Hot cider by the fire will be offered in the trail center.
An Eden Prairie man is facing third degree assault charges in connection with a Feb. 10 incident on Height of Land Lake in Becker County. Philip Arthur Schmidt, 54, of 7256 Gerard Drive, Eden Prairie, made his first court appearance Monday in Becker County on the felony charge. Schmidt is accused of assaulting a male victim on Feb. 10, when the victim asked Schmidt to move his neighboring fish house on Height of Land Lake, because he believed it to be in closer proximity than the 10 feet required by law.

Friday, March 3 at 11:56 a.m., a snowmobile accident was reported in the Howe Lake area. at 12:29 p.m., a Detroit Lakes man reported the window broken out of his vehicle. at 2:20 p.m., a truck pulling a trailer was rear-ended. There were no injuries. at 3:49 p.m., a Cotton Lake resident reported a burglary. at 5:30 p.m., a Detroit Lakes man reported a traffic accident at highways 10 and 59.
An Osage woman is facing two felony drug charges in connection with a 2004 incident in Becker County. Breanna Lois Oswald, 22, of 19886 County Road 121, made her first court appearance Monday on two felony counts. She has been charged with one controlled substance crime in the second degree (sale) and one controlled substance crime in the fourth degree (sale). The charges stem from a Nov. 2, 2004 incident in which an undercover informant purchased methamphetamine, allegedly from the defendant, in exchange for $160 cash.

Owing to the continued increase of business at the office, the district manager has authorized the local office to change its night crew. The lobby will be open all night, and all mail dropped in the post office by midnight will be dispatched eastbound on the N.P. train, and if dropped by 2 a.m. will be dispatched westbound.
