A 10-year-old Erskine boy playing in a garage behind a snowmobile being worked on died Sunday after accidentally being hit by a 2 1/2-foot steel milk can used to keep the sled in place. The boy's father was working on the snowmobile at their Erskine home just after 2 p.m.

Gov. Tim Pawlenty proposes putting $10 million a year more into early childhood education. Money would come from federal welfare funds.
