May 12, 1922-Dec. 4, 2010 Mary B. Grandy, 88, of Detroit Lakes, a former resident of St. Thomas, N.D., passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at her home in Detroit Lakes. Mary B. Daniels was born the daughter of the late Louis and Suzanne (Korb) Daniels on May 12, 1922 in Midland Township, Pembina County, N.D. She attended rural school near St. Thomas, and graduated from high school in St. Paul, Minn. Mary was united in marriage to William Grandy on October 24, 1947 in Crookston. The couple lived and farmed near St. Thomas until his death on Feb. 6, 1991.
Sept. 18, 1987-Dec. 3, 2010 Gina M. Thompson, 23, of White Earth, died Friday, December 3, 2010 from injuries received in an automobile accident near Mahnomen. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8 in the White Earth Community Center, White Earth, with Mike Dahl officiating. Friends may call at the community center from 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7 until the time of services on Wednesday. Gina Marie Thompson was born to Bobbi Jo Thompson on September 18, 1987 in Detroit Lakes.
Nov. 15, 1928-Dec. 3, 2010 Gordon L. Bart, 82, of Detroit Lakes, died Friday, December 3, 2010 at St. Mary's Essentia Health in Detroit Lakes. Gordon Lyle Bart was born to Gust and Clara (Lindsay) Bart on November 15, 1928 in Fargo. He grew up and attended school in Fargo. He then worked for the Holsum Bakery in Fargo as a semi truck driver. In February 1950 Gordon married Lenore Hennings in Denver, Colo. He served in the United States Army from 1951-1953. They then moved to Moorhead, where he continued his career with the bakery, working there for a total of 39 years.
Dec. 1, 1951-Dec. 2, 2010 Sandra K. Lee, 59, of rural Audubon died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Sanford Health Palliative Care in Fargo. Sandra was born the daughter of Clarence and Martha (Hanson) Remmen on December 1, 1951 in Detroit Lakes. She grew up in Audubon and graduated from Audubon School High School in 1969. She married Robert Lee in 1970. They were blessed with two children. Sandra worked for the Northwestern Bell Phone Company and later attended Moorhead State University, receiving a degree in accounting.
May 19, 1943-Dec. 1, 2010 Nancy J. Jager, 67 of Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Nancy Jane Jager was born to Gerald and Ethel (Thorstad) Gullickson on May 19, 1943 in Minneapolis. When Nancy was a young girl, they moved to Detroit Lakes, where she grew up and received her education, graduating from Detroit Lakes High School in 1961. On April 17, 1962 she married Gary W. Meyer in Detroit Lakes. They made their home in Detroit Lakes and later divorced. On May 25, 1968 she married John J. Jager in Momence, Illinois.
Nov. 28, 1935-Dec. 1, 2010 Richard Herbert "Dick" Wallin, age 75, of River Falls, Wis, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at his home. He was born the son of Herbert and Gladys (Miles) Wallin on November 28, 1935 in Minneapolis. Dick entered into the Navy after High School and served during the Korean War. After coming home, he married Judy Abel in Minneapolis on February 6, 1959. Dick and his wife Judy owned and operated the Red Owl Grocery Store in Detroit Lakes, Minn., Hudson and River Falls, Wis., from 1968 to 1988.
April 12, 1947-Nov. 29, 2010 Gloria J. Nelson, 63, of Callaway, died Monday, November 29, 2010 at Sanford Health in Fargo. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Callaway, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Funeral services for Gloria will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, in Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, with Reverend Del Stohs officiating. Gloria Jane Lindorff was born to Carl and Jane (Boldt) Lindorff on April 12, 1947 in St. Paul. In 1966, Gloria married Richard L. Thomas. In 1979, she was united in marriage to James L.
May 21, 1924-Nov. 27, 2010 Wenzel "Woots" Leff, 86, of Waubun, died Saturday, November 27, 2010 at St. Mary's Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. Wenzel Joseph Leff was born to Wenzel and Vitalene (LaGue) Leff of Waubun on May 21, 1924. His early years were spent on a farm east of Waubun, where he attended country school. Later he moved with his family to Detroit Lakes, and attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church and later, Detroit Lakes High School. When World War II began, Woots moved to California and worked in an airplane factory until he joined the United States Navy on October 6, 1943.
Aug. 3, 1956-Nov. 29, 2010 Former Ogema resident Amy Teiken DeGroat, 54, of Elk River, Minn., died Monday, November 29, 2010 at her home, following a 2-year battle with cancer. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1 at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Ogema, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. The visitation will continue one hour prior to mass at the church on Thursday. A mass of Christian burial is set for 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2 at Most Holy Redeemer Church, with Father Walter Butor, O.M.I., officiating.
Sept. 3, 1942-Nov. 28, 2010 Harold William "Bill" Pedersen, 68, of Cass Lake, Minn., passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 28, 2010, surrounded by loved ones at his home under hospice care. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji. A lunch will be held from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Friday at the American Legion in Cass Lake. Harold William Pedersen was born the son of Harold S. and Francis S. (Allen) Pedersen on September 3, 1942 in Windom, Minn.
