The U.S. ethanol industry set new production records in 2005, producing 3.904 billion gallons and averaging nearly 255,000 barrels of ethanol production daily, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Production and demand records were set in December. Ethanol production in December rose 5,000 barrels daily from the month before.
Ethanol plants in West Central Minnesota could soon be popping up as steadily as corn stalks in the spring.
