May 2, 1923-April 22, 2010 Former Detroit Lakes resident Edwin Wallace Johnson, 86, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2010. Edwin was born the son of the late Edwin Nathaniel and Emma (Slaatta) Johnson on May 2, 1923, in New Ulm, Minn. He graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1941. After graduating from Harvard College in 1944, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He received his Ph.D.
Aug. 28, 1926-April 28, 2010 Detroit Lakes native Lawrence "Louie" Eidenschink, 83, of Monona, Wis., passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the William S. Middleton Veteran's Administration Hospital in Madison. Louie was born the son of Catherine and George Eidenschink on August 28, 1926, in Detroit Lakes, Minn., where he grew up. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Louie married Hazel (Moan) Dobson on April 1, 1967. After his service in the war, his career path led him to the silo business, where he worked for many years with Madison and Kast-Rite Silos.
Nov. 13, 1928-April 30, 2010 Irene Wagner, 81, of Moorhead, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Eventide Retirement Community. Irene Rose Krumm was born the daughter of Joseph and Ann Marie (Braun) Krumm on November 13, 1928 in Linton, N.D. She grew up assisting her parents on the family farm and attending school in the Linton area. On November 19, 1947 Irene was united in marriage with Aloyes Wagner and they made their first home on a farm west of Linton.
July 16, 1920-May 1, 2010 Solveig Ovidia Nordsletten, 89, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, May 1, 2010 at her home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Solveig was born the daughter of Martin and Marie (Haugen) Tiller on July 16, 1920 in Wanamingo, Minn. She received her elementary and secondary education in Wanamingo. Solveig continued her education at Winona State College and the University of Minnesota, to become an elementary and music teacher. She taught in District No.
Dec. 14, 1928-April 29, 2010 James D. Dahl, 81, of Detroit Lakes, formerly of Michigan, N.D., died Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes after a courageous battle with cancer. James Dahl was born to Ole and Evelyn Johnston Dahl on December 14, 1928 in Edmore, N.D. He grew up and attended school in Michigan, N.D., graduating from Michigan High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948-1950. He was stationed at the Spokane Air Force Base, where he served as a Military Policeman.
Nov. 4, 1921-April 28, 2010 Roger A. Keepers, 88, of Detroit Lakes, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Fargo. Funeral services for Roger will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 3, in Community Alliance Church, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held on Monday one hour prior to services. Interment will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Roger Arlin Keepers was born to Raymond and Amelia (Olson) Keepers on November 4, 1921 in Cottonwood, Minn. He was raised and educated near Cottonwood.
March 16, 1957-April 28, 2010 Sheri L. Felt, 53, of De-troit Lakes, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 30 at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1 at First Baptist Church in Detroit Lakes. Interment will be in the Alida Cemetery in rural Shevlin, Minn.
Dec. 2, 1949-April 27, 2010 Stephen F. Seymour, 60, went home to be with his Jesus on Saturday, April 27, 2010 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital, after bravely fighting many illnesses for years. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 4 at the David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes. Funeral services will take place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 5 in Community Alliance Church, Detroit Lakes. The David-Donehower Funeral Home will be handling arrangements. Stephen was born on December 2, 1949 to William and Cleone (Neuner) Seymour.
Detroit Lakes native Glenn Frederickson, 64, passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2010 in Mesa, Ariz. Glenn was born in 1945 to Robert and Mildred Frederickson in Detroit Lakes, and graduated from high school there in 1963. He attended NDSSS in Wahpeton, N.D. and later served in the US. Navy. Glenn married Kathy Saunders of Detroit Lakes, and lived in North St. Paul and Arizona. He entered the Pine to Palm Golf Tournament in Detroit Lakes numerous times, and continued his love of sports his entire life.
