What do the Legacy Foundation and K-12 school finance have in common? Both topics were discussed in the Minnesota legislative committee sessions. Lake Park-Audubon Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Regional Officers Nellie Branchaud and Rilee Burnside and chapter officer Breann Hogie shadowed the Minnesota legislative session on Tuesday, March 12. Each of the students applied for the opportunity under the FCCLA Legislative Shadow Program and was selected to spend a day with a legislator.
Just last weekend, I got the opportunity to go to the Northwest Minnesota ELCA Synod Youth Gathering at the Castaway Club on Pelican Lake just west of town. I wasn’t so sure about going at first, but it was so worth it.
There is no doubt in my mind that there is no family quite like mine. My family is “a little different” than your average family, but then again, what is normal anyway? One thing about my family, though, is we have traditions, and we tend to stick to those traditions, for the most part anyways. Last weekend was Easter weekend, and though Easter is one of my favorite holidays to spend with my family (Easter at my house is nothing but chocolate and great food) I decided to spend my 2013 Easter differently than I’ve ever done it in the past.

Q: For Social Security retirement, I have heard both that you need 10 years of work and 35 years of work. Which is right? A: In a way, both are correct but they actually involve two different topics. All Social Security retirement, survivors or disability benefits have a work requirement that varies with the specific program.
