A local man who was classified as homeless has been sentenced in Becker County District Court on a felony check forgery charge. Anthony Francis Santo, 28, was given a stay of sentence imposition on conditions including completion of up to five years of supervised probation, 136 days in jail (with credit for 136 days already served), community service in lieu of a $1,000 court fine, and payment of his share of $15,075 in restitution. About 60 Rossman and Roosevelt elementary and middle school students from Detroit Lakes participated in the 5th and 6th grade math masters competitions. Rossman Elementary Twenty-one 5th graders from Rossman Elementary participated in the regional Math Masters of Minnesota Challenge in Moorhead on March 26. The students competed individually and as teams on eight sets of mathematical problems in this competition. One of the four teams from DL took fourth place.

When I was selected to be an exchange student to Chile, I was confident that I would make plenty of friends during my year abroad. Woods and Wheels ATV Club is hosting youth safety training on May 18. Did you know a person under the age of 18 must wear a helmet? How old must you be to legally ride trails? What kind of clothing is required to ride safely? A DNR online class is required, plus a classroom course in Detroit Lakes and a riding obstacles field test. All who pass the test get free hot dogs and goodies and a guided trail ride the next day. Registration for this course is May 2 from 6 to 7 p.m. in the basement of the VFW on North Washington Avenue in Detroit Lakes.
