Heath Hetland, senior manager at FedEx Ground in Fargo, was honored by the company as a Purple Promise Award winner. Of the more than 50,000 employees in the FedEx Ground and FedEx SmartPost network, Heath, Detroit Lakes, was among 27 recognized for far exceeding the expectations of their job responsibilities to ensure an outstanding customer experience. “We are proud to recognize the outstanding efforts of our employees,” said Dave Rebholz, president and CEO, FedEx Ground. “Our people are dedicated to making every FedEx experience outstanding.”
Minnesota Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) hosted its annual state conference in Bloomington from April 11-13. Over those three days, youth members along with adult chaperones and advisors participated in engaging activities, and competed in STAR Events. Among those attending were 46 chapter members from the Lake Park-Audubon FCCLA Chapter, Advisor Cheryl Hogie, School Administrator Dale Hogie, and parent chaperones, Sue Dahlgren, Claudia Hanson, Kristen Peterson and Kristi Pederson.
There are days when I feel like doing nothing — when all I want to do is eat chocolate, listen to Christmas music and stare at pictures of my cat. Now, those days don’t happen very often, but I’ve definitely experienced a few of them. This weekend was, by far, not one of those weekends. My weekend started with my friend Cristobal’s birthday party on Friday night. He goes to a different school than I do, so I don’t know many of his friends. We have four or five mutual friends and that’s it so the party was a bit awkward.
Holy Rosary Middle School students participated in the 2013 National Crime Victims’ Rights Week calendar art contest for Minnesota Youth. The theme was “New Challenges. New Solutions.” As they created their art, students were to think about crime prevention, safety strategies and a world without crime. Four students from Holy Rosary were selected to be featured in the National Crime Victims’ Rights Week calendar.

St. Catherine University dean’s list recognizes students achieving a semester grade point average of 3.667 or higher.
