WARREN, Minn. – Back home Wednesday for her 55th class reunion, Janet Anderson visited the Marshall County Historical Society Museum. It’s a routine stop whenever she and her husband, Lyle, return to their hometown from their residence in Sun Valley, Idaho. The top museum attraction for the Andersons – and many others – is a patrol car from what’s commonly known as the “Warren UFO Encounter” of 1979. “Most of this kind of stuff, I don’t believe,” Janet said.
FARGO – A Taco Bell worker accused of groping the breasts of two customers in the drive-thru and offering one of them free food in exchange has pleaded not guilty. Austin James Brady, 20, of Fargo, pleaded not guilty in Cass County District Court on Wednesday to a Class C felony charge of unlawful entry into a vehicle, and to a Class B misdemeanor charge of sexual assault. Charges filed last month allege in separate incidents about 2 a.m.
FARGO – Three pools of mosquitoes that test positive for West Nile virus were found Tuesday in Cass County, the county vector control office reported. In response, county officials announced that aerial spraying for adult mosquitoes will start at 8 tonight in Fargo and West Fargo. The city of Moorhead, too, will conduct aerial spraying starting at 8 tonight, as long as winds are less than 10 mph and the temperature is greater than 58 degrees. The public is advised to take precautions against mosquitoes, particularly during dawn and dusk.

MAHNOMEN, Minn. – The National Weather Service has rated a tornado that struck the Mahnomen area early Monday as an EF2, with peak winds of around 115 mph. According to information on the Weather Service’s Grand Forks, N.D., website: The tornado was on the ground for about 18 miles with intermittent gaps. The width of the tornado’s path varied from 20 yards to 150 yards and the tornado lasted from about 1:50 a.m.
ALEXANDRIA, Minn. -- Another trial of a biological weapon against an invasive species threatening Minnesota’s lakes is planned near Alexandria this summer. In 2012, a trial of Zequanox was conducted on Lake Carlos in Douglas County. The 2013 study planned for Little Lake Darling will determine how effective Zequanox can be at saving native clam species from zebra mussels.
ADA, Minn. – A Dilworth man accused of killing a 22-month-old girl here wants a new attorney. Raul Perez, 24, was expected to make a plea in Norman County court Tuesday, but he rejected the plea agreement and fired his attorney. He plans to apply for a public defender, according to a WDAY News report. Perez is charged with second-degree unintentional murder in the death of his former girlfriend’s daughter, Ariel Reyes. She died from head and neck trauma last August while under the care of Perez, according to court documents.

BEMIDJI, Minn. - A former Bemidji man, most recently living in Moorhead, was booked into the Beltrami County Jail on Friday to serve time for molesting a family member. Scott Duane Erickson, 44, is serving a 180-day sentence after pleading guilty in April to one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to court documents.
BEMIDJI -- The identity of a Grand Rapids woman who died in a four-wheeler accident Monday morning was released by police Tuesday. Heather Michelle Garneau, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, according to a press release from Beltrami County emergency management director Beryl Wernberg. The accident occurred just before 10 a.m. on County Road 39 just north of Birchmont Beach Road Northeast, about 20 miles east of Bemidji. A motorist who witnessed the crash called police. Life-saving efforts by first responders were unsuccessful, Wernberg said.
